High Quality Housing for Mt. Vernon Residents and Local Artists

Trinity Financial is transforming the site at 20 S. 2nd Square into a vibrant new mixed-use development. The proposed project will include 317 high quality units of mixed-income rental workforce housing with preferences for Mount Vernon residents and artists.

20 S. 2nd Square will adopt the best practices of creative placemaking through revitalizing the former YMCA site into a state-of-the-art development brimming with community benefits, providing 4000SF of land dedicated to urban farming and space for Environmental Leaders of Color (ELOC), providing education and advocacy on environmental justice and access to green jobs and technology.

Reactivating the location



Trinity Financial and Comrie Enterprises are transforming the site at 20 S. 2nd Avenue into a vibrant new mixed-use development. Elements of the proposed project include:

  • Revitalizing the former YMCA site into a state-of-the-art development brimming with community benefits

  • 4,000 square feet designated to urban farming programming open to the community

  • 6,000 square foot courtyard plus other building amenities

  • 17 live-work apartments with studio space and galleries designed for artists.

20 S. 2nd Ave will be designed to utilize no fossil fuels, and will incorporate green technologies such as geothermal heating and cooling, waste heat recovery and solar PV.

More than 12,000 square feet of space dedicated to youth-oriented community based organizations and dedicated space for Environmental Leaders of Color (ELOC), providing education and advocacy on environmental justice and access to green jobs and technology.

The project is a 5-minute walk to the Mount Vernon East Metro North Station, encouraging use of public transit and reducing the need for vehicular transportation. The project will also include secure bike storage.
